Requirements to Hire Indonesian Maid

New Terms Of Employing Indonesia Domestic Helper In Accordance To The Memorandum Of Understanding Between The Government Of Malaysia And The Government Of The Republic Indonesia Regarding Employment And Protection Indonesia Domestic Helper (PDI)

Summary of the MoU

Employer Eligibility to Hire Indonesian Domestic Workers

  • Household income of RM 7,000.00

  • Maximum number of household members: 6 people

  • Categories of Indonesian Domestic Workers (PDI) allowed:

    • Housekeeping & Cooking (Housekeeper & Family Cook)

    • Child Care (Child Caretaker)

    • Elderly Care (Elderly Caretaker)

  • Applications MUST be made through Private Employment Agencies (APS) and Indonesia Placement Agency (IPA) only

  • Minimum salary for IDW: RM 1,500.00 per month

  • Employment contract MUST be verified by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia (KBRI)

  • Employers are allowed to employed a new Indonesian Domestic Helper replacement based on the following categories :

IDH who did not perform or failed to do duties as required

IDH unsuitable (Unfit)

IDH Absconded (Run Away)

  • Starting from 16th August 2022, all Indonesia Domestic Helper application should be submitted to APS through Visa With Reference (VDR)approval procedure only

  • IDH who entered Malaysia after 15th August 2022 are not eligible to be employed as Domestic Helper by employer. Application should be made through appointed / registered APS.

  • Applications can be submitted:

    • By the Employer himself

    • Through employment agencies registered with the Immigration Department of Malaysia at the Immigration office of the State as per employer’s address.

  • Make sure the application form and required documents are complete before submission

  • The employer and his spouse should have:

    • Children under 15 years of age OR

    • Parents who are sick/ill.

  • The employer must earn an income, and each family is eligible to apply for one (1) PDI

  • Employers are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply if they have been declared bankrupt by the authorities or are on the blacklist/suspected list of the Malaysian Immigration Department.

  • Employers who are Muslims are allowed to hire only Muslim Foreign Domestic Helpers.​

  • For subsequent PRA (Pre-Arrival Registration) applications, the employer must:

    • Have a valid reason (supported by documentary evidence); AND

    • Have a net income as per the following schedule:
